ANZAC DAY 2020

In this time of uncertainty and insecurity, acts of solidarity, community spirit and kindness are what holds us together as a nation.

The Gift of Music and St Andrew’s Catholic College, Redlynch have a beautiful and continued partnership with RSL Cairns and Defence Force families around the Cairns area.

As ANZAC services are cancelled all around the country, we have decided to encourage all of our music students to take part in their own neighbourhood reflection on ANZAC Day.

We are asking that our students practice and learn reflection music appropriate to their ability – for most, that will be learning ‘The Last Post’ and ‘Reveille’, for others ‘The Rouse’ and for the youngest and new starters to music (but keen) ‘Abide with Me’.

On 25th April (ANZAC Day) we are asking our students to gather on their front lawn / balcony with their family to –

5:55 am

Recite ‘The Ode’

Perform ‘The Last Post’ (or play Abide with me)

Observe the minute silence

Perform ‘Reveille’ (or play Abide with me again)

Thank you for your involvement or encouragement of our very youngest Australians who are taking the time to prepare to honour those who go above and beyond.

We invite you to become involved too. You may play an instrument and may wish to join us. Please click on the link below for the music.

You may prefer a private reflection in your own home, we have a link to both video and sound that you may use below.

Thank you for all that you do, your kindness and your connection. We appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts.
